Art Workshop, Swanage

Art Workshop is a charity space in central Swanage dedicated to providing accessible art workshops for everyone, regardless of artistic skill or resources. It’s founded on the concept that art making is a positive experience for all. It can be relaxing, healing, fun, thought- provoking, and should be accessible to everyone.

Many people have ‘not done art since school’ yet are dealing with pressures of life, health problems, busyness and stress without taking time out to relax and restore. Art Workshop runs groups where anyone can come and learn how to make art in a supportive friendly environment. A wide stock of materials is offered including acrylic paints, pre-loved canvasses, textiles, air drying clay, beachcombing finds and wool for weaving, knitting and crochet.

Art Workshop seeks to be inclusive of all who may be experiencing ongoing health problems, disabilities or life challenges, treating each person with respect. Artistic Director Suzanne Dominy, a dear friend and Associate of the Sisters of Bethany, is passionate about her work and looks forward to welcoming all. On visiting the convent she has managed to encourage Sisters to engage in various ‘crafty’ activities.
